Cyprus 2007

After a hectic first half year, we decided to take ourselves to a slightly more glamorous (and sunny) location than Wermelskirchen for an internal planning and strategy meeting. It was tough to decide on a place that fulfilled this requirement but we eventually settled on Cyprus. As is always the case with this sort of the trip, we were not able to focus entirely on internal matters as we found ourselves quite busy with our M&A and consultancy clients however we did find some time to catch up with each other, plan for the next six months and focus on a very exciting new web project that we will be launching in the next few weeks (more to come soon!).
The weather was glorious – we saw a cloud on our last day but that was the one and only! In fact, Greece and Cyprus were having a heat wave and we all struggled with the amazingly high June temperatures of 38 to 43 degrees. Whilst I played tennis at 9am in the morning, Sascha found the best way of cooling off, taking his laptop to the pool.

The pool bar might have lacked drinks but was both power and wifi enabled

Sascha trying to explain to Lars how a chicken looks – or maybe just trying to get some air to his armpits!

The trip allowed Lars to catch up on some essential reading - Accounting for Dummies. Well, we actually bought the book for a client and thought that Lars could also do with some reading in it. Just kidding ...
The team loves speed and so we hired three quad bikes prima facie to help us to get around easily – but really to make sure that we did not have any arguments about who should drive!

Evenings provided us with the opportunity to dress up and go to some of the local restaurants – we were quite taken with Pissouri and went there quite a few evenings. Of course it was up to me to be the glamorous one! The guys seemed to have brought various pairs of jeans and quite a number of Hard Rock T Shirts!

One evening we had a BBQ at the villa when we decided that we would be better off sticking with our day jobs. The food looks fine on the BBQ and was actually quite tasty but it probably took us twice as long to clear up as it did to eat the food!

Yum! And those burgers and sausages are vegetarian!
The three of us – Lars, are you ok?
Anyway, we are back to our normal working locations now and looking forward to our next trip.
